We launched the Life After Dan website a year ago and thought now would be an excellent time to take stock of what’s been happening on the website and our social media.
Our goal is simple, to provide help, support and advice to people suffering a loss from suicide. The biggest problem that we face and the same problem that other organisations that are trying to help these people have is getting seen by those that need us.
People don’t hashtag themselves as “survivors of suicide”, they don’t register themselves on a database, or search for people that have gone through the same awful trauma because they don’t know help is available. So whilst there is help out there, people need to make an active choice to go looking for it, which is so hard as it means facing what happened.
We found this out the hard way, so our goal was always to make ourselves seen by as many people as possible so that those who may need us, or know somebody who does, can choose to come to our website or look at our Facebook page and realise they are not alone.
This can then start them on a journey where they can find others, get help and discover they are not alone and maybe feel like there is a glimmer of hope.
We want to help more people, provide more information, and offer more people advice and support.
